This policy describes what data is collected when you visit this website and when you use the SEM Academy app (Lernheim software) and the Course Register. In short: the app creates no user account, sends no learning progress to us and uses no statistics. Everything you do in the app stays in the storage of your browser.

The website and the app are hosted by Bluehost, a service of Newfold Digital, Inc., USA. When a page or file is requested, your browser transmits data to the server for technical reasons, and the server stores it in log files: IP address, date and time, file requested, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system, and the page visited before (referrer).
This data is used for operation, security and troubleshooting. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). The host is based in the USA. The transfer relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or on the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Log files are deleted after a short time according to the host's rules.
No account is needed to use the SEM Academy app. There is no registration, no password and no login. The name you enter in the app, your learning progress, the course plan, results of practice rounds and Challenges and all settings are stored exclusively in the local storage of your browser (localStorage) on your device. These data do not leave your device and cannot be viewed by us.
You can delete these data yourself at any time by using the reset function in the app or by deleting the website data in your browser. The “Back up progress” function creates a file on your device that you keep yourself; it is not transmitted to us.
The app registers a service worker that caches files of the app in the browser so that the app also runs without an internet connection and can be installed on the device. Only program files and contents of the app are stored, no personal data. The cache is on your device and can be removed in the browser settings.
The website and the app set no cookies for advertising or analysis and include no visitor statistics. Only technically necessary storage mechanisms of the browser (localStorage, service worker cache) are used, which are required for the app to work. No consent is needed for this under section 25(2) TDDDG.
The app does not load content from external servers. Fonts, the library for QR codes in the Course Register and in the SEM whiteboard, and the QR scanner of the app (jsQR) come from our own server. When scanning, the camera image is evaluated on your device only.
The Course Register is a tool for instructors. It runs entirely in the instructor's browser; the course file is on the instructor's device or drive. There is no server that receives course data. IKAR Solutions OÜ sees no participant data, neither names nor learning progress, except the details that the instructor reports for the exam (see below).
Participants join a course through an invitation link or QR code. The app creates reports on the learning progress on the participant's device. Participants send these reports to the instructor themselves, for example by email or message; the app does not transmit them automatically. The app shows what a report contains before it is sent. The instructor or the instructor's organization is responsible for processing these reports.
In the Course Register, the instructor can enter an email address for each participant. It is kept only in the instructor's course file and appears in no invitation, no assignment code and no report. When the instructor reports exam readiness, the Course Register transfers name and email address into the prepared email to the exam office; the instructor sends this email personally. IKAR Solutions OÜ thus receives the details only to send the exam case.
Verify a diploma. The authenticity check of the diplomas (sem.ikarsolutions.com/en/certificate.html) runs entirely in your browser: the page loads a list of checksums without names and compares it with the checksum of your input. Diploma number and name are not sent. If you open the page through the QR code on the diploma, only the diploma number appears in the requested address.
If you write to us by email, for example through “Report a problem” in the app, through the feedback form or with an inquiry about corporate training to sem@ikarsolutions.com, we process the data you provide to handle your inquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The problem email prepared by the app contains technical details such as version, type of access and device type, but no name and no learning progress; you see the text in your mail program before sending and can change it. The data are deleted as soon as the inquiry is settled and no retention obligations apply.
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Please contact info@ikarsolutions.com for this.
Because the app stores your data on your device only, we cannot give you access to them and cannot delete anything; you manage these data yourself in the app and in your browser.
